Calkins Creek Vineyard is the realized dream of an American Airlines pilot heading for retirement.  Back in 2000, Michael Stone began planting both American and French grape vines on the gentle sloped hillside near the old weathered barn that belonged to his wife's family for generations.  As an avid small aircraft pilot, the hangar which houses Mike's yellow Piper Cub single engine plane, also shares the limelight with the vineyard, from which the name of one of our wines comes.

The farm had many out-buildings but none met the needs of a new vineyard.  In 2005, a 12x40 arched underground wine cellar was constructed to keep the Calkins Creek Vineyard wines at the constant temperature of about 50 degrees as they age to perfection.
